When we wish each other a healthy and safe New Year, we often don’t realise how crucial water is to both. Health. Safety. Prosperity, They all begin with water.
For me, 2026 is a very special and emotional year. It is a year of working with a new generation of leaders and academics from around the world and the year I step down as Director, passing Wavemakers United to the next generation. As we celebrate 10 years, it feels like the right moment to hand over the baton.

A brief insight in our goals for 2026 
Together with young professionals and their mentors, we tackle local water challenges to find game-changing solutions across sectors and borders.
We see the world as a puzzle:
• too much water
• too little water
• too dirty water
Each country is a piece. Only by working locally and across borders can we complete the picture.
Our focus: awareness, water-conscious behaviour, education-to-work pathways, and cross-border collaboration.
Our ambition is bold: waves of impact in every UN member state, and safe, clean water for all.
