Standing on a stage in a New York high-rise building, 19-year-old Meinke van Oenen hoisted a small glass bottle of greenish water in the air and proclaimed that the algae in the bottle are “the green gold that defeats the salt”.
Succesful innovations require a strong connection with local communities, a multi-stakeholder approach and a lot of creativity. Youth can lead the way in that process – and that’s exactly what happened during the UN2023 Gamechanger Challenge.
Wavemakers United will take part in several events during the New York Water Week, the week prior the UN Water Conference and during! Furthermore, Wavemakers will (co-)organize multiple side-events to the UN Water Conference focused on youth-led innovation and the importance of intergenerational collaboration.
