Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes in the international city of peace and justice?
Â
From the Peace Palace to the International Criminal Court to the Oranjehotel National Monument, the streets of The Hague breathe history! But what actually happens behind those grand doors every day? And how do people working in The Hague help make the world a better and fairer place?
Â
Wavemakers United participated in the Just Peace Open Day, coordinated by The Hague Humanity Hub, joining 20+ institutions like the ICC, the Peace Palace, and OPCW in opening their doors to the public, making new connections, and sharing the story of how we work with youth globally to deliver on equitable and sustainable water for all.
Â
Water and peace are more connected than many realise. Access to clean, safe water is a basic human need, and where it’s scarce or unequally shared, tensions can follow, between communities, regions, and even countries. That’s why water security is increasingly recognised as a peacebuilding issue, not just an environmental one. By working with young people to promote equitable and sustainable water management, Wavemakers United is investing in a future where water brings people together rather than driving them apart.
