Today, on the first day of October, at the Association of Dutch Water Authorities and kindly hosted by the Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP), Wavemakers United and Topsector Water & Maritiem officially entered a new chapter of Wave NL!
This new Wave NL brings together a unique collaboration of the Dutch water sector with a mix of government, businesses, and educational institutions from vocational (MBO) to universities (WO). This strong coalition and human capital initiative allows us to build bridges across the entire knowledge and skills chain, and to better connect the green and blue domains for the future of water management.
The initiative is designed to strengthen capacity building in the Dutch water sector: encouraging inflow into water-related education, facilitating knowledge exchange, and ensuring smooth transitions from education into the labor market. By doing so, Wave NL contributes to securing the “golden hands” and “bright minds” our sector needs.
During today’s partner group kick-off, we:
-Reflected on insights from all partner interviews through a joint SWOT analysis
-Discussed the added value Wave NL can bring to the sector
-Defined roles and contributions of our partners
-Signed adhesion declarations to formalize our shared commitment
The Dutch water sector faces growing challenges , from climate adaptation to sustainability transitions. With Wave NL, we are building a collaborative platform that strengthens education, innovation, and workforce development, ensuring that the next generation of professionals is ready to meet these challenges.
We look forward to continuing this journey with all our partners.
