In May Team Ocean embarked on an extraordinary journey — and after countless days at sea, they triumphantly reached their destination!
We invite you to dive into their expedition through their own words.
“Why We Rowed Across the Pacific Ocean”
At GROHE Team Ocean, we don’t just row to cross oceans — we row to tell a story and deliver a message.
Our mission, “From the Summit to the Sea. From the Sea to the Summit,” symbolizes the complete journey of water — from alpine springs, through rivers, to the ocean, and back to the mountains. We literally followed that cycle: from the Alps, down the Rhine, to the North Sea, and then across the Pacific Ocean from California to Hawaii (4500 km), followed by climbing Mauna Kea, the tallest mountain in the world measured from its base on the ocean floor.
That second leg was an unprecedented challenge.
We spent 39 days at sea, rowing nonstop in 2-hour shifts, facing 12-meter waves, 75 km/h storm winds, scorching sun, salt blisters, exhaustion, and solitude. Three people in a small rowboat, living on 6 liters of water per person per day, without support — just us, the waves, the oars… and our purpose.
We didn’t row for records — though we did achieve a world record — but for awareness: to draw attention to the global water crisis and raise funds for educational programs that teach children and communities how to protect drinking water.
Because protecting water isn’t just a technological challenge — it’s a human one. It starts with understanding, behavioral change, and the courage to take responsibility.
That’s why we rowed.
Together we make a difference — from mountaintop to sea, and back again!”
