Watersport Tour Bonaire – A Splashing Success!

From May 12 to May 22, 2025, local schoolchildren in Bonaire experienced the first-ever Watersport Tour! They learned sailing, paddleboarding, water polo, and explored the beauty of the coral reef. This event was about more than just sports—it focused on education, teamwork, and ocean conservation!

We are proud to have Marcelien Bos represent Wavemakers United at this wonderful festival of sports and water.

The Watersport Tour Bonaire was designed with multiple objectives in mind, aiming to create a lasting impact on the island’s youth and community:

  • Encouraging Physical Activity – By introducing children to various watersports, the event promotes an active lifestyle, helping them develop strength, coordination, and confidence in the water.
  • Fostering Teamwork & Social Skills – Through activities like sailing and water polo, kids learn the importance of collaboration, communication, and responsibility, skills that benefit them far beyond sports.
  • Raising Ocean Awareness & Conservation – With the support of Coral Reef Renewal Bonaire, children gain firsthand knowledge about the importance of protecting marine ecosystems, including coral reefs and local biodiversity.
  • Strengthening Youth Engagement in Sports Clubs – The initiative aims to increase youth participation in local watersport clubs, ensuring long-term involvement and growth in the community’s sporting culture.

We hope to see Watersport Tour next year as well – bigger and better!
