Yesterday, we finished our week at the United Nations High Level Political Forum (HLPF)
The Forum brought together the world’s leaders in SDGs, including academics, politicians, industry leaders, and most importantly, youth.
Our Board Member Emily Lorra Hines represented Wavemakers United and presented multiple interventions and questions at the numerous events.
What was her overall message? That the SDG goals, notably goal 6, cannot be achieved without youth.
Specifically, Emily spoke about the need for opportunities to convene and connect youth at major conferences, including the upcoming 2026 UN Water Conference in the UAE, so that they can propel the knowledge and connections made at conferences and move from attendance to action.
But we can’t do it alone. That’s where collaboration comes in, and Emily worked with Mahmoud Radwan, Henk Ovink, Rachana Mattur, Tilly Stroo and Alix DEBRAY, PhD all Wavemakers United Advisors to craft complimentary messages, support each other’s initiatives and move action forward.

It was a busy, fulfilling week, and we’re leaving New York with ambitions as big as the Big Apple itself.
