1 MILLION WATER LESSONS

It does not stop here!

Wavemakers United embarked on a mission to tackle the pressing global water issues through the UN 2023 GAMECHANGER CHALLENGE, which gathered the brightest minds from around the world. With over 200 teams representing 62 countries, the challenge produced a lot of creative and innovative ideas. This successful outcome has moved us on to strive for even greater impact. As such, we have committed ourselves to delivering one million guest lectures on water and sustainability to spread awareness and inspire action.

1 Million youngsters educated on water commitment

In order to achieve our shared development goals, we must prioritize social innovation over technical innovation. Even small changes in behavior can have a significant impact. While many intelligent technical solutions exist, it is crucial that we learn how to apply them. Access to quality education plays a pivotal role in effecting positive change. As such, our consortium of partners and beneficiaries is committed to making quality education on water-related challenges available to the next generation.

What is it?

Through an online toolkit featuring interactive educational materials on water issues connected to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), our employees, volunteers, and network can educate young people. This commitment places a strong emphasis on educating those who are (1) most affected by water-related challenges, (2) lacking access to quality education, and (3) lacking the network to develop the skills needed to accelerate climate transition. The toolkit’s content is not solely focused on water-related SDGs but instead offers a link to water within every SDG. For example, it explores how water plays a role in achieving gender equality (SDG-5), resilient cities (SDG-11), or enabling institutions to tackle water challenges (SDG-16). This approach provides a comprehensive learning experience and offers a broader understanding of the various aspects of water-related challenges.
