This World Water Day, our Wavemakers community came together across continents to spread awareness, curiosity, and action among students, from the Middle East to Southern Europe to the North Sea coast. We delivered many guest lectures to school children future water leaders and champions for a resilient future.
Lebanon
At the Lycée Alphonse de Lamartine de Tripoli, students explored innovations in water treatment, water conservation, and wastewater management. In a region where water scarcity, climate pressures, and displacement place immense strain on already fragile systems, these conversations are essential. Raising awareness among young people helps build the foundation for long-term resilience and sustainable water management.
Spain
We are proud to share that students in Spain delivered four guest lectures, reaching nearly 100 teenagers from various schools. They explored the role of water as a vital resource and the urgency of protecting it. Each session concluded with calculating our water footprint, helping students connect global challenges to their own daily choices.
The Netherlands
Our team visited a school in Middelburg, where we explored what water means in the children’s daily lives and in their home countries, many of which face water challenges firsthand. At the end of the visit, we captured their water-related dreams on our #1MAP postcards, which will join thousands of others to form an artwork showing children’s visions for a better water future.
One Mission, Many Voices
We will not stop at World Water Day. In April, our waves in Egypt, Malawi, and Indonesia will take the baton and deliver their own guest lectures. We are extending World Water Day into every day.
Together, we are building a generation that understands water not as a given, but as a shared responsibility.
