The World Water Conference officially kicked off this week! Wavemakers United is proudly represented by founder and managing director Tilly Stroo and events project manager Oumaima during the Dutch Moroccan Water Days (DMWD).
Â
The week started with a major highlight: we signed an MoU with Siteli CW circular Water, led by founder and managing director Yazid Siteli. Together, we shared our intention to collaborate on the exploration, development, and future launch of Wave Morocco — a youth-led initiative aimed at strengthening water awareness, innovation, education, and cross-sectoral engagement across Morocco.
Â
Our MoU signing took place alongside the MoU between Meike van Ginneken, Dutch Water Envoy, and Abdelfetah Sahibi, Secretary General of the Moroccan Ministry of Equipment and Water. Their MoU supports the WaterActionPlan 2021–2050, which outlines the country’s key water challenges and ambitions for the years ahead.
Â
On the 2nd of December, we joined the matchmaking event and the panel session on innovation and finance, organized by Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP) and AMEPA, where we actively contributed to the debate from the audience.
Â
Lots of exciting moments already — and it’s not over yet!
Â
On the 3rd of December we will be visiting the UM6P – University Mohammed VI Polytechnic. Together with UM6P, and with support from the Royal Dutch Embassy, we are exploring the possibilities to start up a brand-new Wave in Morocco.
Â
Last but not least we will be organizing a Hackathon on the 5th of December as part of the Dutch Moroccan Water Days. This event will bring together 100 students from various educational institutions to collaborate on real-world water issues affecting their communities.Â
