Reflections on the Delta Congress 2025: “To protect our future, we must inspire the future.”
Last week we joined the National Delta Congress in Breda Netherlands where experts got together to discuss the urgency of the work taking place within the Delta Programme: safeguarding water safety, ensuring freshwater availability, and shaping a climate-resilient living environment for the Netherlands.
Wavemaker Tim Rotteveel attended the sessions and returned with two clear messages:
> We need more skilled people in the water sector.
Technical and operational talent is urgently needed to accelerate climate adaptation.
> We must break out of the water bubble.
The urgency of climate adaptation isn’t widely felt outside the sector—yet it affects everyone.
At Wavemakers United, this is exactly what we work on:
✔ Inspiring youth through our goal of 1 million guest lectures on water by 2030.
✔ Making sustainability “sexy” again through athletes and sports events.
The future of water starts with the next generation—let’s inspire them.
