Starting this week Wavemakers United are participating in the Netherlands Economic Trade Mission in Indonesia, a key initiative fostering stronger partnerships between Indonesia and the Netherlands. With a strong focus on economic collaboration, sustainability, and water management, this mission brings together experts and stakeholders to exchange knowledge and drive innovative solutions.
Here are some of the highlights of these first days:
📍Together with the head of the Wave of Indonesia, Sabrina, and IPB University we reviewed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and planned our strategy to further strengthen Wave Indonesia over the coming year. We met Mrs. Puji Mudiana (Director of International Education), and Mr. Iskandar Zulkarnaen Siregar (Vice Rector of Global, Connectivity, Collaboration, and Alumni)—key figures driving this partnership forward.
📍Another highlight of this visit was Jakarta Future Festival 2025, an inspiring event centered on the future of Jakarta. With the theme “Collaborate to Elevate!”, the festival gathers 250+ collaborators and welcomes individuals, communities, MSMEs, NGOs, universities, and media to celebrate Jakarta’s progress towards its 500-year milestone.
Water is a major theme of the festival, with discussions on sustainability, urban resilience, and social inclusion—key aspects of making Jakarta a more attractive city for both residents and visitors. During the festival, our founder took part in an insightful panel featuring Nanya Burki from Nuffic, where critical ideas were exchanged on water governance and innovative solutions like Room for the River.
Through strategic partnerships and active participation in key events like this trade mission and Jakarta Future Festival, we continue to work towards a more sustainable and inclusive future.
