Our Impact
Wavemakers United inspires youth to take action on water. We do this in three ways:Â
- By raising awareness through education and sports. Our goal is to give 1 million youngsters a year a guest lecture on water
- By promoting global collaboration through our capacity-building programÂ
- And by supporting new student-initiated innovations
The Succes of the Gamechanger Challenge
The UN2023 Gamechanger challenge was a great success, during which 200 universities around the world joined. Over a thousand students from 62 different nationalities worked on innovative ideas, offered guest lectures to their local community, and contributed to solving the global water challenges.

Wavemakers United is a community of students, young professionals, and athletes with a passion for water. As a youth organization we focus on local challenges while having a global reach. Our aim is to contribute to the UN SDGs and involve as many youngsters as possible.

In Paris once again: ChangeNow 2025
From April 24 till April 26 Grand Palais in Paris became a meeting place for changemakers, leaders, and innovators. Wavemakers United are a part of this global platform for impact change!

As Wavemakers from across the globe we united and joined the largest world water relay to raise awareness for water!

Meet us on Common Ground: towards Expo 2025 Osaka
Nearly 300 attendees gathered in Rotterdam this week for the “Meet us on Common Ground” kick-off event to celebrate the Netherlands’ participation at Expo 2025 Osaka.
The gamechanger challenge will be back!
A new challenge is on the way! Wavemakers United and IHE Institute for water education Delft organized the UN2023 Gamechanger Challenge towards the UN2023 Water Conference. The project successfully involved 200 student teams from 62 different countries resulting in 5 finalists presenting their idea during the New York Water Week. Â
The journey of water innovation has only just begun! The official start of the Challenge will be during the Olympic summer of 2024 in Paris but you can already sign up as: case owner, jury member, ambassador and coach! Learn more on how to get involved!
