Our Impact
Wavemakers United inspires youth to take action on water. We do this in three ways:
- By raising awareness through education and sports. Our goal is to give 1 million youngsters a year a guest lecture on water
- By promoting global collaboration through our capacity-building program
- And by supporting new student-initiated innovations
The Succes of the Gamechanger Challenge
The UN2023 Gamechanger challenge was a great success, during which 200 universities around the world joined. Over a thousand students from 62 different nationalities worked on innovative ideas, offered guest lectures to their local community, and contributed to solving the global water challenges.

Wavemakers United is a community of students, young professionals, and athletes with a passion for water. As a youth organization we focus on local challenges while having a global reach. Our aim is to contribute to the UN SDGs and involve as many youngsters as possible.

Egyptian Water Youth Dialogue
On Friday 30th of May, young leaders gathered for the Egyptian Water Youth Dialogue, hosted uniquely on a yacht — symbolizing resilience and innovation in the face of climate uncertainty.
Watersport Tour Bonaire – A Splashing Success!
From May 12 to May 22, children in Bonaire experienced the first-ever Watersport Tour. Sailing, paddleboarding, water polo, coral reef – and more to learn about teamwork and ocean consevation.
Wavemakers joining Scheldt River Walk
On May 22nd, just one day before the finish line, Wavemakers United joined the Scheldt River Walk, an extraordinary initiative by Li An Phoa, Drinkable Rivers.
Wave of Indonesia: Learnd & Play Day in Bandung!
On Tuesday, May 20th, as part of the Bandung Asia Africa Network, Wave of Indonesia organized an exciting and interactive outreach program for children.

A new challenge is on the way! Wavemakers United and IHE Institute for water education Delft organized the UN2023 Gamechanger Challenge towards the UN2023 Water Conference. The project successfully involved 200 student teams from 62 different countries resulting in 5 finalists presenting their idea during the New York Water Week.
The journey of water innovation has only just begun! The official start of the Challenge will be during the Olympic summer of 2024 in Paris but you can already sign up as: case owner, jury member, ambassador and coach! Learn more on how to get involved!
